JOLIET, Ill. – State Representative Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, participated in the Joliet Township High School Community Connections Expo recently. The free event featured a job fair, community resource tables, entertainment, food vendors, as well as college- and career-themed breakout sessions.
“Access is key when it comes to teaching our older students what options are available to them as they finish high school and start their own careers,” Rep. Manley said. “Expos like this are incredibly helpful and informative to kids who may not know what to do next. When they can actually speak to someone who is working in the profession they are considering, it provides information they may not have thought about before.”
Rep. Manley was among the dozens of employers who hosted tables in the Joliet West High School gym on Tuesday, Feb. 10. Approximately 200 people attended.
“The energy in the room was exciting to watch young people contemplate what their career paths may look like,” Rep. Manley said. “I enjoyed meeting the parents who accompanied their students around the expo and from where I stood, I can assure everyone that the future looks bright.”
